1. Acceptance
These Terms of Use govern your use of all services provided by Aethar (“we”, “us”, “Aethar”), including but not limited to WageAPI, CostAPI, SkillsAPI, EInvoiceAPI, and any future Aethar products (collectively, the “Services”). By subscribing to or using any Aethar Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Service Description
Aethar provides production-ready APIs and developer tools for workforce data, e-invoicing compliance, and related domains. Services include data APIs, document conversion and validation tools, AI-powered parsing, MCP server endpoints, and management consoles. All services are hosted on EU infrastructure (Hetzner Falkenstein, Germany). Specific capabilities and data sources vary by product and are described in each product's documentation.
AI processing hard guarantee. For the EInvoiceAPI intelligent parse endpoint, customer PII is anonymized before AI processing. Requests where residual PII is detected are rejected with an error (HTTP 422 UNANONYMIZED_PII_DETECTED) and you are asked to manually redact the flagged fields before retrying. We will not forward partially-anonymized text to the AI model under any circumstance. See Privacy Policy, Section 8 for the full data flow, cross-border transfer basis (EU-US Data Privacy Framework), and retention policy.
3. Acceptable Use
You may:
- Use API responses to build applications, dashboards, reports, and internal tools.
- Cache responses locally to reduce redundant calls.
- Display data publicly, provided attribution requirements (Section 4) are met.
You may not:
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense raw API responses as a standalone dataset or competing data product.
- Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract the full dataset through repeated API calls.
- Misrepresent the data source — you must not claim the data originates from your own research or proprietary collection.
- Use the API in any way that violates applicable law, including but not limited to discrimination in hiring or compensation decisions.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, interfere with, or degrade the API infrastructure.
4. Data Attribution
When displaying data obtained from Aethar Services to end users, you must include appropriate attribution to the underlying data sources where required (e.g., BLS, O*NET, Eurostat). Specific attribution requirements are documented per product. The exact wording is flexible, but must credit the original data source.
5. Rate Limits and Fair Use
Rate limits are enforced per API key and vary by subscription tier. Exceeding your plan's rate limit will result in HTTP 429 responses. Sustained abuse or circumvention of rate limits (e.g., rotating keys) may result in suspension.
6. Data Accuracy Disclaimer
WageAPI aggregates and serves data from U.S. government sources on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee:
- The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data returned.
- That data reflects current labor market conditions — source datasets are updated periodically by their respective agencies.
- That the API will be available without interruption.
You are responsible for validating data suitability for your use case.
7. Service Availability & Maintenance
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee specific uptime percentages or response times. In the event of a service disruption, we will make reasonable efforts to initiate recovery procedures as soon as practicable.
- Planned maintenance (database migrations, infrastructure upgrades): announced in advance via status.aethar.dev.
- Emergency deployments (security patches, critical fixes): may occur without prior notice. Typical interruption: under 60 seconds.
No SLA-based credits or refunds are offered. Service status and incident history are available at status.aethar.dev.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Aethar and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the API.
Total aggregate liability for any claim related to the API shall not exceed the fees you paid for the API in the 3 months preceding the claim.
9. Billing
All billing, payments, and subscription management are handled by Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), who acts as Merchant of Record. Aethar does not process payments directly. Billing disputes should be directed to Paddle support or to [email protected]. See our Refund Policy for details on cancellations and refunds.
10. Termination
Aethar reserves the right to suspend or terminate your API access at any time for:
- Violation of these Terms.
- Abuse of rate limits or infrastructure.
- Non-payment or failed billing (handled by Paddle).
You may stop using the API and cancel your subscription at any time through the Aethar Console (console.aethar.dev) or via your Paddle receipt email.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the API documentation or Aethar Console. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Poland and the European Union. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Poland.
